The Motorola Edge 30 Pro has finally launched in India with flagship-level specifications such as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, 144Hz display, and 68W charging. Being a high-end smartphone, the Motorola Edge 30 Pro also gets a high price tag in India, but at the same time, it’s also very competitively priced. The phone is a rebranded Moto Edge X30, which was announced in China last December. In this post, we’ll be comparing the Motorola Edge 30 Pro with another Pro smartphone that launched recently in India, the iQOO 9 Pro. Let’s get started.

Right off the bat, the Motorola Edge 30 Pro seems like a way better deal thanks to its pricing, and we believe it to be. However, for Rs 15,000 more, you do get all your money’s worth with the iQOO 9 Pro. The Motorola Edge 30 Pro price in India is Rs 49,999 for the sole 8GB RAM and 128GB variant.
On the other hand, the iQOO 9 Pro is available with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage for Rs 64,990, whereas the 12GB RAM variant is priced at Rs 69,990. Now, let’s compare the design, hardware, and other features of the two smartphones.
Motorola Edge 30 Pro vs iQOO 9 Pro design, specifications, and features
Design
In the design department, the iQOO 9 Pro features a glass back panel with a carbon fibre finish and a large camera module that spreads across the top. It features a racing stripe at the back, which has been inspired by the BMW M Motorsport racing cars. The phone features a colored power button on the right side, which is accompanied by the volume buttons. On the front, it gets a central hole-punch camera cutout and a flat display with slim bezels all around.
The Motorola Edge 30 Pro has a simpler design with a plain glass back panel and a pill shaped camera module located on the top left corner. The front of the phone features a flat display and a centrally mounted punch-hole cutout for the selfie camera. The volume and power buttons are located on the right side of the phone, but are placed higher, which could make it a little difficult to reach.
Processor, storage, RAM
Both smartphones are equipped with the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processors, which make these devices extremely powerful and efficient. The Motorola Edge 30 Pro is available in India in a single 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. Internationally, the phone is available with up to 12GB RAM and 512GB storage.
Meanwhile, the iQOO 9 Pro is offered in two variants. The base variant offers 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, whereas the top-end version comes with 12GB RAM. It’s nice to see that both variants of the iQOO 9 Pro offer 256GB of internal storage.
Display
There are several differences between the front panels on both the phones, but then you would expect that when you’re paying more money for the iQOO 9 Pro. This phone offers a 6.78-inch E5 AMOLED LTPO 2.0 display that comes with QHD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. It also gets 360Hz touch sampling rate, 1,500nits max brightness, and a 10 bit panel with 100 percent P3 color gamut range. The phone also houses a large sized 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
The Motorola Edge 30 Pro comes with a similarly sized 6.7-inch pOLED display that offers FHD+ resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The panel supports HDR10+ and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The display features an in-display fingerprint scanner as well.
Both phones have a centrally placed hole-punch cutout for the front facing camera.
Cameras
Talking about cameras, both the Motorola Edge 30 Pro and the iQOO 9 Pro offer a triple rear camera setup with high-resolution sensors. The Edge 30 Pro comes with a primary 50-megapixel OV50A40 sensor, another 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with a 114 degree field of view, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The main camera features omni-directional PDAF, and OIS. For selfie enthusiasts, the smartphone houses a large 60-megapixel sensor up front.
On the iQOO 9 Pro, there’s a primary 50-megapixel Samsung GN5 sensor that comes with gimbal stabilisation technology. Another 50-megapixel sensors takes care of the ultra-wide duties with a super wide 150 degree FoV. Finally, a 16-megapixel telephoto sensor is available with OIS and 2.5x optical zoom. There’s also a 16-megapixel sensor up front from selfies and video calls.
Connectivity
On the connectivity front, both phones offer all the latest radios and ports. They both feature a USB Type-C port, dual 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and NFC.
Battery
The Motorola Edge 30 pro houses a 4,800mAh battery that offers 68W of fast charging support, and 15W fast wireless charging. It also offer 5W power-sharing support.
The iQOO 9 Pro has a slightly smaller 4,700mAh battery, but offers a higher 120W fast charging speed. The phone can fully charge from 0 to 100 percent in around 20 minutes, which is very impressive. To keep the phone safe and the battery last longer, iQOO has included several battery saving and enhancement features.
Motorola Edge 30 Pro vs iQOO 9 Pro: Verdict
There’s not really a straight comparison between the two phones due to the Rs 15,000 price gap. However, they’re both powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and offer good value for money. The iQOO 9 Pro looks like it offers better cameras and faster 120W charging compared to the Motorola flagship. But the Motorola Edge 30 Pro also gets a faster 144Hz OLED display and a cheaper price tag over the iQOO flagship. If you’re looking for a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 smartphone with decent cameras and a blazing fast display, then the Motorola Edge 30 Pro is an excellent option. If not, the iQOO 9 Pro is a great option, albeit at a higher price point.
