The iQOO 9 Pro is a flagship phone that offers a lot of bang for the buck. It carries a competitive price tag in India and goes head to head with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S22 series. Therefore, we thought it’d be wise to compare the iQOO 9 Pro with the standard Samsung Galaxy S22, as they are similarly priced. Let’s take a look at which phone is a better buy.

iQOO 9 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S22: Design, specifications, and features
Design
The iQOO 9 Pro has a unique design thanks to a partnership with BMW M Motorsport. The phone is available in the Legend colorway in India, which includes a white rear panel with carbon fibre weave pattern, and a stripe that has been inspired by the BMW M race cars. The rear panel design is highly reminiscent of the iQOO 7 Legend, which also featured a white back with a racing stripe. The large rear camera sits across almost the entirety of the rear panel and houses three sensors, a flash, and some branding.
At the front, the phone features a centrally located hole-punch cutout for the front camera. A colored power button and the volume rockers are on the right side, with the phone offering dual stereo speakers at the top and bottom. The iQOO 9 Pro has a premium look and finish thanks to the design.
Coming to the Samsung Galaxy S22, the phone borrows heavily from the predecessor. It has a similar looking rear panel with a rectangular camera module with three sensors. The flash module is located on the outside of the module. The front is also very similar to the Galaxy S21, as it features a flat display with slim bezels, and a central hole-punch cutout for the front camera.
Processor, storage, and RAM
In terms of hardware, you get similar specifications on both smartphones. They’re both equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, which offers excellent performance. The iQOO 9 Pro offers higher RAM and storage, with the phone maxing out at 12GB RAM and 256GB internal storage.
On the other hand, the standard Galaxy S22 from Samsung maxes out at 8GB RAM. It still offers a 256GB storage option though, which is nice.
Display
The iQOO 9 Pro comes with a large beautiful display that’s packed with features. The 6.78-inch E5 AMOLED LTPO 2.0 panel offers 2K resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 360Hz touch sampling rate, up to 1500 nits of brightness, and offers 10bit and 100 percent P3 color gamut support. On top of that, the 9 Pro also houses an in-display 3D ultrasonic fingerprint scanner with a larger surface area than compared to other phones.
Meanwhile, the Samsung Galaxy S22 features a 6.1-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with FHD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and 1,300 nits of brightness. The screen is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and you get an in-display fingerprint scanner as well.
Cameras
In the camera department, the iQOO 9 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S22 both offer a triple rear camera setup. The iQOO 9 Pro has a primary 50-megapixel Samsung GN5 sensor with gimbal stabilisation, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with 150 degree FoV, and a 16-megapixel telephoto unit with 2.5x optical zoom. For selfies and video calls, the phone offers a 16-megapixel front facing camera.
The Samsung Galaxy S22’s triple rear camera module also consists of a primary 50-megapixel sensor, which has Dual Pixel autofocus and OIS. The secondary sensor is a 12-megapixel ultra-wide with 120 degree FoV, and there’s a third 10-megapixel sensor that offers 3x zoom. The Galaxy S22 features a 10-megapixel front facing camera for selfies and video calling.
Battery
The iQOO 9 Pro has a 4,700mAh battery that supports 120W fast charging, and also comes with a charger in the box. The 120W fast charger can top-up the phone from 0 to 100 percent in less than 25 minutes, which is incredible.
On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S22 houses a smaller 3,700mAh battery and only supports a maximum charging speed of 25W. However, you don’t get a charger in the box.
Connectivity
For connectivity, both smartphones get the latest and greatest in Wi-Fi, 5G, Bluetooth, GPS, and more. The phones offer Bluetooth 5.2, dual-band Wi-Fi, NFC, USB Type-C ports, and dual 5G mode.
iQOO 9 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S22: Verdict
The iQOO 9 Pro has a lot going for it as it gets a big display, a unique design, 120W fast charging with a larger battery, among other things. The Samsung Galaxy S22, on the other hand, comes with a higher price tag. But the brand promises a premium experience worth its price, with an A+ display, flagship performance, and camera experience. But if fast charging is your biggest concern, that’s one are the Samsung phone falls short in comparison to the iQOO 9 Pro.
