Netflix India slashes prices of its subscription plans, now start from Rs 149
Netflix India has slashed the prices of its subscription plans in the country. The move comes as part of the brand’s efforts to expand its user base amid stiff competition from rivals like Amazon Prime and Disney+ Hotstar. The streaming giant has reduced the pricing of all its plans, including its most popular mobile-only plan. The Netflix mobile plan price in India is set at Rs 149 per month in India, down from Rs 199 per month. Take a look at the new Netflix India prices for the Basic, Standard, and Premium plans.
Netflix India plans get cheaper: comparison with old prices
As mentioned earlier, the cheapest Netflix plan has now been dropped to just Rs 149 a month, while the Premium plan is now down to Rs 649 per month from Rs 799. Here’s a table to show the reduced prices in comparison with the earlier prices to make it easier for you:

If we take into consideration the competition, Amazon Prime is still offering its monthly plan at a cheaper rate (Rs 129 per month), while Disney + Hotstar has a yearly plan for its subscribers, which costs Rs 1,499 per year, and a Disney + Hotstar mobile plan, which costs Rs 499 a year. The new Netflix India prices will come into effect starting today i.e., December 14th, and is an effort to increase Netflix’s user base in India.

Commenting on the price drop, Monika Shergill, Vice President, Content, Netflix India, said: “Over the last three weeks, we have been rolling out big titles. And as per the Netflix calendar, we will have big titles across series and films coming out regularly. And it is the kind of content that is programmed for a very large audience. And now that content is ready for this large audience, it was just the right time to go deeper, to appeal to a wider base. The aim is to create value through entertainment but also at great prices.”
