iPhone SE 3 launch timeline tipped: expect this affordable iPhone in Q1 2022 with A15 Bionic chipset
Apple’s cheapest iPhone, the iPhone SE 2020 (iPhone SE 2), is due for an update in 2022 and it seems the rumour mill is busy with speculations about what the successor will offer. The upcoming iPhone SE 3 or iPhone SE 2022 may finally get 5G capabilities thanks to the A15 Bionic chipset, which also powers the latest iPhone 13 series. The iPhone SE 3 is also expected to be the last iPhone that could come with an LCD display.
Now, according to Taiwanese research firm TrendForce, the next iPhone SE model could launch in the first quarter of 2022, with March being the most likely month for the announcement. The upcoming affordable iPhone could retain the same iPhone 8-like design with a 4.7-inch LCD display on the front, with a Touch ID button on its bottom chin for security. The smartphone is also expected to retain the same aluminium frames all along with the glass sandwiched body, which was there in the iPhone SE 2020.
If Apple is able to deliver the A15 Bionic chipset on the iPhone SE 3 then it could prove to be a game-changer as this would make it the most powerful compact smartphone in the market. The TrendForce report further claims that Apple is expecting to ship approximately 25 to 30 million iPhone SE 3 units next year, after its launch.
The original iPhone SE was launched in 2016 and was well-received among Apple enthusiasts. It was eventually discontinued in 2018 after the iPhone XR launch, which came with a much better chipset and futuristic full-screen design. The second-generation iPhone SE was released in April 2020 and is still quite a popular device in the Rs 30,000 price range. The iPhone SE 2 still receives some criticism because of its average battery life but it is an ideal device for customers looking for an affordable iPhone to enter the Apple ecosystem.
