Bounce electric scooter to launch in India soon to rival Ola, price could start under Rs 50,000
Indian electric two-wheeler brand Bounce is set to launch its first electric scooter in India, called Bounce Infinity. Pre-bookings for the upcoming e-scooter will start from the first week of December, with deliveries set to commence from January 2022. According to a statement from the company (via), the Bounce Infinity electric scooter will come with “enhanced state-of-the-art equipment and intelligent features”. Bounce is also planning to offer a very unique that will set it apart from its competitors like the Ola Electric scooters.
Bounce Infinity features include a removable lithium-ion battery, which the customers will be able to take out and charge as per their convenience and requirement at their residence or any other place as well. Bounce is also offering the ‘battery as a service’ option, which means that customers have the option to purchase the Bounce Infinity electric scooter at an affordable price tag without the battery as well. The prospective buyer can then use Bounce’s battery swapping network instead. Customers will have to pay for the battery swaps, whenever they exchange an empty battery with a fully-charged one at the swapping network provided by Bounce.
Since batteries almost account for almost 40-50 percent cost of an electric scooter, Bounce is hence dedicated to reducing the running cost of its customers with a battery swapping network, which will help in the long-running of its scooters, as well in its ride-sharing business.
Bounce electric scooter price in India (expected)
The electric scooter should be available for under Rs 50,000 for the swappable battery option and for around Rs 70,000 for a normal battery model, which can also be removed and charged anywhere as per the user’s convenience. Ola’s S1 e-scooter on the other hand is priced at Rs 99,999, whereas the S1 Pro is priced at Rs 1,29,999 (both ex-showroom). This makes it quite cheap in comparison to the Ola counterparts.
Bounce has also revealed that it has acquired a 100 percent stake in 22Motors. The deal has been valued at about 7 million dollars in 2021. As a part of this deal, Bounce has acquired its manufacturing plant located at Bhiwadi in Rajasthan along with 22Motor’s intellectual property. The plant at Bhiwandi has an annual production capacity of about 1,80,000 units.
