The electric scooter competition is heating up in India thanks to new players such as Ola Electric. The Ola S1 and S1 Pro are popular electric scooters in India right now as they offer good features and range at affordable prices. The Ola electric scooters have received a great response so far. Recently, a manufacturer based out of Coimbatore launched a new electric scooter. Boom Motors announced the Boom Corbett 14 and the Corbett 14-EX, which can deliver up to 200 km range. That’s better than the maximum 181 km range that the Ola S1 Pro can offer. Therefore, we decided to compare the electric scooters from both companies to so what’s what.

Boom Motors is offering two variants of the Corbett electric bike. The Corbett 14 is priced at Rs 89,999 ex-showroom, whereas the Corbett 14-EX will start at Rs 1,24,999. The bookings for the scooters have already begun, and you can book one by paying a token amount of Rs 499. As an introductory offer, the company has slashed Rs 3,000 and Rs 5,000 from the Corbett 14 and Corbett 14-EX, respectively. Deliveries begin in January 2022. 

On the other hand, the stylish Ola Electric scooters are also available in two models. The basic Ola S1 is priced at Rs 99,999, and the S1 Pro is at Rs 1,29,999. You can also pre-book the electric scooter at just Rs 499, and deliveries have already commenced in some areas.

Now, let’s take a look at the specifications of the Boom Corbett and the Ola Electric scooters. The Corbett scooters come with swappable batteries, and the company also provides a portable charger that can be used with any socket. The scooter can charge fully in 2.5 hours with the fast charger and can take four hours with a standard charger. 

The Corbett electric scooters can hit a top speed of 75kmph and have a 200kg load-carrying capacity. It uses an exo-skeletal double cradle chassis that’s made using high-tensile steel. And although this design gives it an ugly look, it can definitely be a good carrier. It gets an LED headlamp, 30 litres of under-seat storage, and comes with features such as theft/accident detection, parental mode, and more. All this software information can be accessed via a tracking app. 

1. Ola S1

Moving on to the Ola S1 electric scooter, this is a really good-looking product and offers better performance as well.  Both scooters feature a proprietary Battery Management System that monitors durability, performance, safety, and range. It has auto lock and unlocks, a 7-inch touchscreen display, multiple riding modes, anti-theft alarm, geo-fencing, front single fork suspension, rear mono-shocks, a reverse mode, Hill-hold (Pro only), and disk brakes front and back.

The Boom Corbett 14 comes with a 2.3kWh battery, and the Corbett 14-EX variant comes with a bigger 4.6kWh cell. Boom Motors promises a range of up to 100kms on the Corbett 14, whereas the 14-EX model can stretch that up to 200kms with a larger battery.

The S1 variant has a top speed of 90kmph and a range of 121kms thanks to its 2.98kWh battery. Meanwhile, the S1 Pro can hit 115kmph and has a claimed range of 181kms with its larger 3.97kWh cell.

If you like the Boom Corbett 14 electric scooters, then you can head over to their website to reserve the scooter and purchase it. As mentioned earlier, you can reserve the scooter for just Rs 499. The company offers up to 5 years EMI plans that start at Rs 1,699 per month. It also offers a 5-year warranty on the battery along with a 7-year warranty for the chassis. 

To book the Ola Electric scooter, you can head over to the Ola website or use the Ola app. The scooters can be reserved by paying a refundable amount of Rs 499. You can then purchase the scooter during a purchase window by paying an advance of Rs 20,000 or opting for a loan. The EMI options start at Rs 2,999, and if you pay an advance, you will have to pay the rest on the delivery of the scooter.
