Samsung takes down Galaxy S21 FE support page following cancellation report

Highlights
  • Samsung Galaxy S21 FE support pages have been taken down.
  • This move comes soon after Galaxy S21 FE cancellation reports.
  • Reports suggest chip shortages and the strong sales of Galaxy Z Flip 3 are responsible.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE cancelled: Earlier this week, it was reported that the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE was cancelled as the company wanted to focus on the Galaxy Z Flip 3 production instead. Now, Samsung has pulled out the support pages for the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE, thus confirming that the device has indeed been killed. The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE would have been the spiritual successor of the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE. The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE was introduced with the intention to deliver flagship-grade hardware at an affordable price. A similar route was planned for the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. But it seems that the upcoming smartphone will never see the light of the day.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE support pages pulled

SamMobile spotted that the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE support pages from the company’s Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa, and Levant websites have been pulled. This strongly suggests the cancellation of the new entry-level phone in the Galaxy S21 lineup. We had recently covered a report from DDaily that stated that the Korean tech giant has cancelled the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE as well as the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for October.

Samsung has reportedly only made 10,000 units of the upcoming model which are minuscule numbers for a device that was scheduled for launch in October. Tipster Ice Universe mentioned how the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE will be a futile move as Samsung already has the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 which are selling in healthy numbers and also has the Galaxy S22 series scheduled for launch sometime in December 2021 or January 2022. With the Galaxy S22 launch so close, chances of the Galaxy S21 FE are low.

That said, Samsung has been running into critical issues over the past few months as its usual planned schedule has been hampered greatly owing to the semi-conductor shortage that the post-pandemic world is now facing. Samsung’s own Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 use the Snapdragon 888 chipset which was also initially intended to be put in the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE. The chip shortage has triggered higher prices and good demand on Samsung’s new flagship foldables have sealed the Galaxy S21 FE’s coffin with a death nail.
