Redmi 10 Prime with MediaTek Helio G88 chipset confirmed ahead of launch in India
The Redmi 10 Prime will launch with the MediaTek Helio G88 chipset, Xiaomi has confirmed through an official tweet. So far, it was only speculated that the phone would be powered by the Helio G88 SoC as Redmi 10 Prime was rumoured to be a rebrand of the Redmi 10. With Xiaomi now confirming the processor, it seems the Redmi 10 Prime is indeed a rebadged Redmi 10 that launched globally earlier this month. Redmi 10 Prime price in India will be revealed on September 3rd, 2021, which is when the phone will be launched in the country. Here’s a quick look at what we know about the Redmi 10 Prime in terms of hardware and pricing.
How much will Redmi 10 Prime cost in India?
As mentioned, the Redmi 10 Prime India price will only be revealed on September 3rd during the launch event which starts at 12 noon. The phone is expected to sit below the Redmi Note 10, which is priced at Rs 13,999. The Redmi 10 Prime will likely be priced between Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 in India. To recall, the Redmi 10 was launched in Malaysia recently with a starting price of MYR 649 (around Rs 11,400).
Redmi 10 Prime and Redmi 10 are likely the same
Now that Xiaomi has confirmed the chipset, it looks like the Redmi 10 Prime and Redmi 10 are the same. We don’t know much else about the Prime device but we know everything about the Redmi 10. The latter sports a 6.5-inch FHD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The MediaTek Helio G88 SoC is paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The phone ships with Android 11-based MIUI 12.5. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and USB Type-C port.
The Redmi 10 has a quad rear camera setup that includes a 50MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, a 2MP macro, and a 2MP depth sensor. There is an 8MP sensor on the front for selfies. The handset is equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and a 3.5mm audio jack. The device houses a 5,000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging support. Xiaomi is bundling a 22.5W fast charger in the box. Notably, the phone also supports 9W reverse wired charging. The Redmi 10 measures 161.95×75.53×8.92mm and weighs 181 grams.
