Google Pixel 5a launch date, specs and price tipped, but you shouldn’t get too excited
We already know that the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are not coming to India. It now seems as if you should temper your expectation about the Google Pixel 5a as well. A new report by tipster Jon Prosser reveals the Pixel 5a launch timeline, availability, key specifications, and price. It seems Google only plans to launch the upcoming budget Pixel device in two markets – the US and Japan. India will seemingly not get the Pixel 5a despite the company having launched the Pixel 4a in the country last year. To recall, the Pixel 4a was released in India back in October with an introductory price of Rs 29,999.
Google Pixel 5a launch date, key specs, and price tipped
According to Prosser’s report on Front Page Tech, the Google Pixel 5a launch date is Thursday, August 26th. The device will be available only in the US and Japan through online and physical stores.
Google Pixel 5a specifications have also been detailed in the latest report. The phone is said to sport a 6.4-inch display with a 60Hz refresh rate and the option to force a 90Hz refresh rate. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset paired with 6GB RAM. The Pixel 5a houses a 4,650mAh battery and does not support wireless charging. The device will get the same cameras as the ones on the Pixel 5 and it will come with an IP67 rating and a headphone jack.
Pixel 5a specs
- 6.4-inch display (60Hz regular and 90Hz forced)
- Snapdragon 765G chipset
- 6GB RAM
- 12.2MP + 16MP rear cameras
- 4650mAh battery
Google Pixel 5a price is said to be USD 450 (approx Rs 33,300). This means the phone will be priced similarly to its predecessor. While the Pixel 5a India launch sounds unlikely following Prosser’s report, you should still wait for an official confirmation before giving up on Google entirely.
