Smartphone shipments in India crossed 33 million units in Q2 2021: Counterpoint
The Counterpoint Research firm has just published a report on smartphone shipments in India in Q2 2021. According to the firm, the shipment of smartphones in the Indian market grew by 82 percent in Q2 2021 YoY (compared to Q2 2020) with total shipments of 33 million units. Moreover, the H1 2021 (Q1 and Q2 combined) registered the highest shipments of smartphones in India to date. The research firm has also published a detailed analysis about the shipments of smartphones in the Indian market from each brand including Xiaomi, Samsung, Vivo, Realme, and Oppo. Let’s have a look at which brand shipped the highest number of smartphones in India in Q2 2021.
Xiaomi led the Indian smartphone market in Q2 2021
According to Counterpoint, Xiaomi has shipped the highest number of smartphones in India in Q2 2021 and managed to achieve a market share of 28.4 percent. In second place is Samsung with a market share of 17.7 percent. Vivo took the third position by achieving a market share of 15.1 percent. Realme managed to score the third position with a market share of 14.6 percent. OPPO stood fifth by managing to capture 10.4 percent of the smartphone market in India. All the other smartphone manufacturers accounted for a 13.8 percent market share.
Top sellers from Xiaomi, Samsung, and Vivo
The research firm points out that the Redmi 9 series and the Redmi Note 10 lineup made up for the majority of smartphone shipments of the brand. As for Samsung, its online-centric smartphone lineups, the Galaxy M-series and the Galaxy F-series, contributed to the majority of sales. The company also performed strongly in the upper mid-range smartphone segment thanks to the Galaxy A32, Galaxy A52, and the Galaxy F62. Coming to Vivo, the Vivo V21 series along with the Vivo X60 and the iQOO 7 series proved to be the highest sellers for the brand.
Realme led the 5G smartphone market in India
Moving on to Realme, the brand managed to make a dent in the 5G smartphone segment by managing to ship almost 22 percent of the total 5G smartphones. Realme has also become the fastest brand to reach 50 million smartphone shipments in the Indian market. As for OPPO, the F19 Pro Plus was the brand’s top-selling 5G smartphone between Rs 20,000 and Rs 30,000. The brand launched an e-store in India and also offered its customers free home deliveries of smartphones, both of which also drove the shipments for the company.
OnePlus and Apple led premium and ultra-premium segments
What about OnePlus? Well, according to Counterpoint, OnePlus led the premium smartphone market with a 34 percent share. Apple, on the other hand, managed to lead the ultra-premium smartphone segment (Rs 45,000) with more than 49 percent market share.
