Samsung Display flexes its muscles by showing off some remarkable foldable devices
Samsung Display has always pushed the envelope when it comes to developing newer ways for us to interact with our devices. It has now demonstrated some exciting new technologies, such as a tri-folding tablet, a foldable laptop, a slidable display, and an under-display camera sensor. When it comes to foldable devices, Samsung has been leading the charge with the likes of the Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Z Flip, and more. It is worth noting that these products are still probably in the prototype stage, so it could be some time before we get to see them in action.

TCL was the first to demonstrate its tri-folding tablet earlier this year. LG has been dabbling with rollable OLED screens for quite some time, and OPPO bedazzled the world with the slidable OPPO X 2021. However, Samsung is one of the first OEMs to demonstrate a 17-inch foldable laptop. It also showed off a portable OLED screen which can serve as an external display for your smartphone/laptop.
As mentioned earlier, it is unlikely that we’ll get to see most of the above products in the retail market anytime soon. At best, we could see the tri-folding tablet and external display get unveiled alongside the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3. The foldable laptop concept looks quite interesting, as it could completely reimagine how one interacts with one’s laptop. It could herald in a new era of large form-factor tablets that can double up as laptops if and when needed. While its foldable OLED screen might cost a pretty penny, the lack of a keyboard and other input options could offset some of that.
