OPPO Reno5 A makes an appearance on Google Play’s list of supported devices

Highlights
  • OPPO Reno5 A has shown up on the Google Play Supported Devices list, indicating that it could be launched soon.
  • Very little is known about the OPPO Reno 5A specs, other than the fact that it packs a 64MP camera.
  • OPPO Reno5 A launch could happen in the coming weeks.

We found out about the OPPO Reno5 A design some time ago via a few leaked renders. They showed us a run-of-the-mill OPPO smartphone complete with three camera sensors, a hole-punch selfie camera, and what looks like a capacitive fingerprint scanner. Now the OPPO Reno5 A has shown up on the Google Play Supported Devices list, indicating that the smartphone is real and will be launched eventually. As spotted by MySmartPrice, we can see two separate variants of the smartphone in the list, presumably for different markets. The A101OP OPPO Reno5 A variant is intended for the Japanese market, apparently.

We know very little about the OPPO Reno5 A specifications other than the fact that it will pack a 64MP primary camera module. It is unclear as to just where it sits in the already confusing OPPO Reno5 line of smartphones. The OPPO Reno5 Z kept the full-fat Reno5’s AMOLED screen but compromised on the camera layout, chipset, and battery charging speed. Therefore, we can conclude that the OPPO Reno5 A will follow the same path.

The fact that the OPPO Reno5 A ships with a 64MP camera module indicate that it will downgrade the screen to an LCD panel to keep things balanced. This is somewhat reinforced by the fact that there is a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor on the phone. The battery will get a few nerfs, too. It is unclear as to when OPPO plans on launching the Reno5 A, but it shouldn’t be too long given that the smartphone is making more appearances online.
