ASUS ZenFone 8 may launch in India as ASUS 8Z; ZenFone 8 Flip may be called 8Z Flip
ASUS ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip were launched globally last week but the India launch has been delayed for the time being owing to the COVID-19 wave across the country. Now, the vanilla ZenFone 8 has been spotted on Google Play Supported devices list. What caught our attention is that the phone has been listed as “ZenFone 8/ ASUS 8Z with the model number ASUS_I006D,” suggesting it may land in India as ASUS 8Z. It looks like the company wants to carry forward the ‘Z’ moniker for the Indian market owing to its branding issue with the ‘ZenFone’ moniker. To recall, the ASUS ZenFone 6 was launched in India as ASUS 6Z. However, the ASUS ZenFone 8 Flip is not listed with any alternate name at the moment but there’s a good chance it may arrive as ASUS 8Z Flip and carry the model number ASUS_I004D.
