Vivo V21 5G, Vivo V21e with AMOLED display, 64MP camera launched: price, specs
Vivo has launched two new V-series smartphones in Malaysia today. The Vivo V21 5G and Vivo V21e continue their predecessor’s legacy by offering a mix of mid-range specifications at an affordable price. This time around Vivo has thrown in 5G connectivity too, but only on one model. Both the Vivo V21 5G and Vivo V21e come with a powerful selfie camera at the front and three modules at the back. The Vivo V21 5G India launch date is set for April 29th. Whether or not the Vivo V21e gets launched alongside it remains to be seen. It could arrive under a different moniker, though.

Vivo V21 5G and Vivo V21e prices
The Vivo V21 5G costs RM 1,599 (approx Rs 29,000) for the model with 8GB of RAM and 128GB internal storage. It is available in two colours, namely Sunset Dazzle and Dusk Blue. The slightly cheaper Vivo V21e retails at RM 1,299 (approx Rs 23,000) for the identical storage/RAM configuration and will be available in Diamond Flare and Roman Black colours.
Vivo V21 5G specifications
The Vivo V21 5G comes with a Samsung-made 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED with a refresh rate of 90Hz, 500 nits peak brightness HDR 10+ support, and SGS display certification. A waterdrop-style notch houses the smartphone’s 44MP selfie camera, which also happens to ship with OIS (optical image stabilization. This feature is usually reserved for rear camera modules on high-end smartphones, and it is good to see Vivo’s fresh take on bringing OIS to the front.
5G connectivity on the Vivo V21 5G is enabled by the MediaTek 800U SoC, coupled with 8GB of physical RAM (plus 3GB virtual RAM) and 128GB of storage. Its 4,000mAh battery supports fast charging at 33W. Given that 4,500mAh units are the norm today, the Vivo V21’s battery seems a little lackluster. Lastly, the Vivo V21 5G packs three rear camera modules, including a 64MP OIS primary camera sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2MP macro camera.
Vivo V21e specifications
The Vivo V21e is essentially a 4G version of the Vivo V21 5G with a different chipset. Both devices have nearly identical specifications otherwise, including the 6.4-inch 90Hz HDR10 (not 10+) AMOLED screen, 430 nits brightness (as opposed to 500), 4,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging, and even memory/storage configurations. The 64MP triple rear camera setup is the same, too. However, the 44MP selfie camera on the Vivo V21e doesn’t have OIS, which shouldn’t be much of a problem for most real-world use cases, but would be nice to have nonetheless. The Vivo V21e runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chipset, bereft of 5G connectivity. Lastly, both the Vivo V21e and Vivo V21 5G ship with an under-display fingerprint sensor.
