HP will reportedly launch a new range of affordable Chromebooks in India soon
HP plans to launch a sun-Rs 25,000 Chromebook in India soon, sources familiar with the matter have told India Today Tech. This will add to HP’s existing line of affordable Chromebooks, some of which are priced between Rs 25,000 and Rs 30,000. While their exact launch date is unknown, the Chromebooks will be announced in the first week of April 2021, with sales likely to start in the subsequent weeks. With schools taking classes online, the demand for low-cost Chromebooks has definitely seen a steady rise. HP would be hoping to capitalise on this demand with its new line of Chromebooks.

It is still too early to speculate what the upcoming HP Chromebook specifications could be, but we can expect it to run an upgraded version of the Intel Celeron N4020 processor, presumably the Celeron N5100 that was launched some time ago. The four-core, four-thread CPU has a base clock speed of 1.8GHz and can boost up to 2.8GHz. An integrated Intel UHD iGPU handles graphics. It can be paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR4x 2,933MHz RAM, although the HP Chromebook in question will likely feature no more than 4GB of RAM. 64/128GB of eMMC storage should be included, too.
The HP Chromebook could include a 14-inch HD (1366 x 768) touch-enabled display. There could be a 12-inch variant in the works, too, if HP’s current SKUs are anything to go by. It will likely be powered by a 2-cell 45Wh battery that offers up to 10 hours of backup. Connectivity options could include two USB Type-C ports, one USB Type-A port, and a micro SD card reader. Wireless communication will be enabled is Bluetooth 5 and 802.11 b/g/n/ac/ Wi-Fi.
