Redmi 9 Power price in India and specifications were announced on Thursday. The smartphone touts a few noteworthy features, including a 6,000mAh battery and a 48MP quad-camera setup at starting price of just Rs 10,999. The Redmi 9 Power price in India is similar to the POCO M3’s global price. In fact, the device also shares a lot of the same specifications as the POCO M3, which begs the question as to whether the two are essentially the same. To recall, the POCO M3 is the latest M-series offering from POCO and it was launched globally last month. There is a good chance the POCO M3 may also launch in India soon. So should you wait for the POCO phone or buy the new Redmi 9 Power instead?

Redmi 9 Power vs POCO M3: similarities

Starting with specifications, Redmi 9 Power and POCO M3 both run Android 10-based MIUI 12 out of the box and come with dual-SIM support. The handsets sport a 6.53-inch FHD+ display with a standard 60Hz refresh rate and a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera. The front camera on both phones employs an 8MP sensor for selfies and video calling. At the heart of Redmi 9 Power and POCO M3 lies the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC paired with Adreno 610 GPU and 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM.

Both handsets come with 64GB and 128GB UFS 2.2 storage options that are expandable via microSD card (up to 512GB) through a dedicated slot. Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, Infrared (IR) blaster, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phones also employ a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor for security. The Redmi and POCO smartphones measure 162.3mm × 77.3mm × 9.6mm and weigh 198g.

Redmi 9 Power vs POCO M3: differences

On paper, the Redmi 9 Power differs from POCO M3 only in two departments: cameras and design. The Redmi 9 Power has an ‘aura power design’ with a rectangular camera module on the left corner of the rear panel. Meanwhile, the POCO M3 comes with a unique rear panel finish that sees a large camera island on the top half. Notably, the Redmi 9 Power gets a quad-camera system that includes a 48MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide lens, 2MP macro lens, and 2MP depth sensor. The POCO M3, on the other hand, ships with a triple camera setup consisting of a 48MP primary camera, an 8MP wide-angle lens, and a 2MP sensor.

Redmi 9 Power vs POCO M3: prices

Redmi 9 Power price in India is set at Rs 10,999 for the base 4GB RAM + 64GB variant and Rs 11,999 for the 4GB RAM + 128GB option. The phone comes in Mighty Black, Fiery Red, Electric Green, Blazing Blue colour options and will go on sale in India on December 22nd.

POCO M3 release date in India hasn’t been announced yet. To give you some perspective, the handset is selling globally at USD 149 (approx Rs 11,000) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant, while the 4GB RAM + 128GB storage option costs USD 169 (approx Rs 12,500), which are similar to the Redmi 9 Power’s prices. The POCO M3 is available in black, yellow, purple colours.
